Trankovich Collection of Smith L. Putnam Papers

Title

Trankovich Collection of Smith L. Putnam Papers

Description

This collection contains records dating back to 1898 and comprises both town records from Putnam's time as the town's clerk/treasurer and Putnam’s personal business-related papers. Putnam's town records include decrees, appointment letters, checks, and correspondence with various town residents. During Putnam's tenure as clerk/treasurer in the early 1900s, it was customary for town officials to keep official records in his/her own home, as the town did not have an office.
